How to Create a Promo Code

How to set up a new promo code in Junglebee and configure all its settings.

Written by Joana

Promo codes let you offer discounts to guests at checkout — great for marketing campaigns, group sales, repeat customers, and seasonal promotions. You create and manage promo codes in Settings > Promo Codes.

Accessing Promo Code Settings

  1. Go to the drop down menu in the top right corner and click Settings.

  2. Select Promo Codes from the navigation on the left.

  3. Click + Add Promo Codes to open the new promo code form.

Settings > Promo Codes — manage all your discount codes from this page

Filling in the Promo Code Details

Name

Enter an internal Name for the promo code. This is for your reference only — guests do not see this field. Use something descriptive, like Summer 2026 Discount or Travel Agent Partner Code.

Promo Code

Enter the Promo Code string — the actual code your guests will type at checkout. Guidelines:

  • Use uppercase letters and numbers for readability (e.g., SUMMER20)

  • Avoid spaces and special characters

  • Keep it short and memorable (6–10 characters is ideal)

  • Each code must be unique — Junglebee will alert you if the code is already in use

Description

Add an optional Description to help you remember the purpose or context of this code. This is an internal note only.

Discount Type

Select how the discount is calculated:

  • $ (Fixed Amount): Deducts a specific dollar amount from the booking total (e.g., $25 off).

  • % (Percentage): Deducts a percentage of the booking total (e.g., 10% off).

Amount

Enter the discount Amount corresponding to the type you selected:

  • For $: Enter the dollar amount (e.g., 25 for $25 off)

  • For %: Enter the percentage number (e.g., 10 for 10% off)

Redemption Limit

The Redemption Limit sets the maximum number of times a promo code can be used in total across all guests. This is useful for flash sales, limited-time offers, or VIP codes you don't want widely distributed.

No Limit

Leave the Redemption Limit field blank or set it to 0 for unlimited uses.

Setting a Redemption Limit

  1. In the Redemption Limit field, enter the maximum number of uses (e.g., 50 for 50 total redemptions).

  2. Once the limit is reached, the code will automatically be rejected at checkout.

The promo code creation form — fill in the name, code string, type, discount amount, and redemption limit.

Select the Valid Booking Date Range

The Promo Code Valid range restricts when the code can be applied at checkout — based on the date the booking is made (not the tour date). Use this to run time-limited promotional windows.

Example Use Cases

  • A Black Friday sale code valid only November 25–29

  • An early-bird discount for bookings made before March 31

  • A limited-time campaign where the code expires after a specific date

Configuring the Valid Booking Date Range

  1. In the Valid Booking Dates section, set the Start Date (the first day the code can be used).

  2. Set the End Date (the last day the code can be used).

  3. Guests attempting to use the code outside this window will see an error at checkout.

Select the Valid Tour Date Range

The Valid Tour Date Range restricts the code to bookings for tours that take place within a specified window — based on the tour departure date, not the booking date. This is different from the booking date range.

Example Use Cases

  • A summer promotion valid only for tours departing June–August

  • A low-season discount valid for tours in January and February

  • A holiday promo for tours during a specific week

Configuring the Valid Tour Date Range

  1. In the Valid Tour Dates section, set the Start Date (the first eligible tour departure date).

  2. Set the End Date (the last eligible tour departure date).

  3. Bookings for tours outside this window will not accept the code at checkout.

Select the Specific Tours or Private Trips it Applies to

The promo code will only be accepted at checkout if the guest is booking one of the selected tours or private trips. If a guest tries to apply the code to a tour or private trip not on the list, they will see an error message indicating the code does not apply to that booking.

Note: If no tours or private trips are selected (the filter is left empty), the code will not apply to any tours or private trips on your account.

Restrict a Promo Code to Specific Tours

  1. For tours or private trips, toggle ON Valid for tours.

  2. For the legacy charters system, toggle ON Valid for private charters.

  3. Use the dropdown or search field to select the products this code applies to. You can select multiple tours/private trips.

Saving the Promo Code

Once you have filled in all required fields, click CREATE to save the changes. The code will appear in your promo codes list in Settings > Promo Codes and is now active — guests can use it immediately at checkout, unless you have set date restrictions or redemption limits.

Managing Existing Promo Codes

All your promo codes are listed in Settings > Promo Codes. From here, you can:

  • Click on the pencil icon of any code to edit it. If you make changes, make sure to click UPDATE to save.

  • Click on the trash icon to delete codes that are no longer needed.
