How do tour operators get bookings from agents/ activity desks/ concierge desks in St. Maarten?

Junglebee provides a reservation platform for both tour operators and tour agents in St. Maarten to use. Tour operators add their tours and schedules to the system, and local agents can then find these tours from the agent side of Junglebee and make reservations.

Note: It is the responsibility of the tour operator to contact agents/activity desks/concierge desks that they would like to sell their tours. Junglebee only provides the platform to make reservations; we do not advertise tours in any way. We can provide a list of active agents in St. Maarten, but it is the responsibility of the tour operator to contact agents and promote their own tours.

How do agents collect a commission?

The processing of the agent commission will depend upon what the tour operator and agent agree upon.

The default agent commission that the tour operator sets for each tour will be the recommended deposit (in percentage). The commission is set in the Participants & Price tab when editing each tour.

Most agents/activity desks/concierge desks in St. Maarten will take the deposit when they make a booking (via cash, POS, room charge, etc.), and the balance is paid directly to the tour operator by the guest on the day of the tour. Commission does not apply to mandatory add-on fees, such as marine park or port fees; only to the price of the ticket.

Alternatively, if the agent uses JB Pay, the full amount will be charged when the booking is made and Junglebee will automatically calculate the funds that are due to the agent and to the tour operator and issue payouts accordingly.

Is the default agent commission applied to direct bookings via the tour operator’s website?

No, the commission set in the Participants & Price section is only for agents booking through the Junglebee Agent Portal. For guests booking directly via the tour operator’s website, the deposit is 100% by default.

Suppliers can change the default deposit for website bookings by following this tutorial: https://help.junglebee.com/en/articles/3687240-how-to-set-a-percentage-deposit-for-online-bookings-on-your-website

Does Junglebee keep the default commission for direct bookings made via the tour operator’s website?

No. The only commission Junglebee gets is the 4% per booking, which is automatically calculated in the system.

What information do tour operators need to share with agents/activity desks?

When reaching out to agents/activity desks/concierge desks to let them know that your tours are available on Junglebee, it would be helpful to share the following information:

  • name and details of your tours,

  • the categories that they can find your tours under,

  • discuss commission (typically 20% in St. Maarten) and how you'd like it to be processed.

How much does this feature cost?

The cost for tour suppliers using the Junglebee widget on their website is $1 per booking made by a local agent/ activity desk/ concierge desk, with a minimum monthly fee of $10/month.

The cost for tour suppliers not using Junglebee on their website is $2 per booking made by a local agent/ activity desk/concierge desk, with a minimum monthly fee of $50.

In both cases, if you receive bookings from local agents, we subtract the per-booking fee from the monthly fee to reach the minimum, so you don't need to pay it if met.

Example #1: If you are on the $10/month plan, and you receive 10 agent bookings, each costing $1/booking, then you would only pay $10. We won't add an additional fee since the monthly minimum is reached via the per-booking fee.

Example #2: If you are on the $10/month plan and you received 8 agent bookings ($1/booking), at the end of the month we would charge $8 + $2 (as a surcharge) for a total of $10 since that is the monthly minimum amount.

Note: These fees are ONLY for tour operators that wish to use Junglebee to get bookings via local activity desks and agents.
